Oilers Fall To Bucs On The Road

Bucs 7, Oilers 1

The Oilers drop the first game of an away stand to the Anchorage bucks by a final score of 7-1.

The Peninsula squad had a rough first game from the jump in the opening contest of the eight game trip on the road. The Bucs offense jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Will Burns and Cole Carlon would plate runs for the Bucs to give the early edge.

Ty Thomas (Mt Sac) led off the inning for the Oilers in the second and reached on an error by the third baseman. Max Roffwarg (Swarthmore) and Cody New (Cal Baptist) would walk to load the bases with only one out. Bryce Burkey worked a full count and drew a walk that brought in the Oilers first and only run of the ball game.

Bucs and Oilers starters, Eddie Leon (Marshal) and Zan Rose both gave their teams scoreless innings until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Bucs would strike again. Two errors, three hits and a sacrifice fly plated four runs in a sloppy showing from the Oilers defense.

The Oilers offense would continue to go quiet in the sixth, as Rose gave way for his bullpen to come in and finish the job. Elijah Dew and Andrew Rudd provided shutout baseball for the rest of the game, while the Anchorage offense plated another run in the sixth extending their lead to six runs.

Starter Zan Rose would be credited with the win and Oilers starter Eddie Leon was dealt the loss.

The Oilers look to bounce back against the Pilots tomorrow for a 6pm start between the number two and three ranked teams in the league.
