The Peninsula Oilers held-off a ninth-inning rally, a solo home run with two outs, and defeated the Anchorage Bucs 4-3 in Alaska Baseball League action at Mulcahy Park on Tuesday.
Oilers 4 – Bucs 3
The Oilers received another outstanding start from Luke Yacinich, who posted seven innings and allowed only two runs on two hits.
Down 1-0 to the Bucs into the fourth inning, the Oilers scored a pair of runs on a two-RBI single by Henry Novicki for a 2-1 lead. The Oilers added a run in the eighth with an RBI double by Andrew Sojka scoring Joh Hanley. Garrett Pennington lead the offense going 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored; driving in Ben Grunberg in the fifth inning.
The Bucs pulled to within a run in the bottom of the ninth with a two-out, solo home run. Yacinich earned the win and reliever Dylan Crowley recorded the save. Final Score: Oilers 4, Buc 3.
