Oilers Hold-Off Chinooks For 4-2 ABL Victory

A four-run, 6th inning for the Peninsula Oilers held-up for a 4-2 Oilers victory over the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks at Lee Jordan Field on Saturday night; the Oilers record their second-straight Alaska Baseball League victory on the road.

Trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning, the Oilers plated four runs on three extra-base hits including a double for Dylan Ditzenberger, a double by John Hanley and a two-run home run by Grant Roosma.

The Chinooks scored one run in the bottom of the ninth and left two on base as Oiler’s reliever Lee Atkinson held the Chinooks in-check and recorded the save.  Ben Briggs earns the win throwing five innings and allowing one run and striking out four batters.

 

The Oilers improve to 2-2 on the eight-game road trip through the ABL.

The Oilers return to Mulcahy Park in Anchorage on Sunday to face the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in the 4 p.m. Sunday contest.
