Oilers Offense Overpowers Bucs 11-3

The Peninsula Oilers pounded-out 15 hits and 11 runs to overpower the Anchorage Bucs 11-3 in a rain-shortened, six inning game in Alaska Baseball League action on Wednesday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

 

Oilers 11 – Bucs 3

In just six innings, the Peninsula Oilers recorded season highs in runs scored in a game, 11, and runs scored in an inning, 7, in route to an 11-3 rain-shortened victory over the Anchorage Bucs.

The Oilers opened with a pair of runs in the first inning on three hits and seven runs in the second inning on seven hits, including a two-run home run by Caleb Hicks.  Kellen Strahm closed the night with four hits in four at bats; Mikey Hoehner went 3 for 3.  Starting pitcher Raymond Kerr pitched five scoreless innings allowing only five hits.

Final Score: Oilers 11 – Bucs 3

 

The Oilers and Bucs will play a doubleheader on Thursday, July 20 at Coral Seymour Memorial Park, with game one scheduled for 5:00 p.m..  Two seven inning games on Military Appreciation Day at the Ballpark.

Friday, the Oilers and Bucs will play a doubleheader to close the current home stand; game one scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
