Oilers Offense Overpowers Chinooks: Oilers Continue Homestand Through Saturday

A pair of firsts for the 2021 season catapulted the Peninsula Oilers to a 12-2 victory over the Chugiak -Eagle River Chinooks on Wednesday as the Oilers won a second-straight home contest at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

 

Oilers 12 – Chinooks 2

The Peninsula Oilers defeated the Chinooks in a 10-run rule, seven inning game on Wednesday; the Oilers first 10-run rule game of the season.

The Oilers also scored 10 runs in a single inning for the first time in 2021, recording 10 runs in the fifth inning.  In the bottom of the fifth, the first twelve Oilers batters reached base safely and the Oilers posted ten runs on six hits and two Chinooks errors.

For the game, The Oilers scored 12 runs on just nine hits lead by John Olmstead’s 3 for 5 with five RBI and Tyler Johnson went 2 for 3 with two RBI.  Luke Yacinich pitched six innings, allowing two runs and striking out five for the win.  Andre Orselli closed with one inning in relief.
