Oilers Offense Overpowers Pilots Pitchers

Scoring runs in seven of eight innings and amassing 15 hits including three doubles and two solo home runs; the Peninsula Oilers overwhelmed the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 9-1 in Alaska Baseball League action at Coral Seymour Memorial Park on Saturday.

Soldotna’s Joey Becher pitched five innings as the Oilers starter allowing one earned run and only five hits, earning his first win in an Oilers uniform.

 

Kellen Strahm recorded three hits and three RBI; John Thomas and Mikey Hoehner each went 2-4 with two runs scored.  Caleb Hicks and Nathan Webb  both blasted solo home runs, Hicks in the fourth inning and Webb in the fifth.  The Oilers scored nine runs on 15 hits for the 9-1 victory.

 

The Oilers have won two of three in the current home stand against the Pilots and move to 5-11 on the season.

 

Sunday’s Oilers vs Pilots game is Old Town Bingo Night at the ballpark with free admission for the 2:00 p.m. game start.
