The Peninsula Oilers open a 10-game road swing through the Alaska Baseball League on Thursday, July 1st at Mulcahy Park against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots. The Oilers will play all four ABL teams twice and face the Mat-Miners and Anchorage Bucs three times.
Thursday’s game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. first pitch.

ABL Mid-Season Recap
The Oilers currently stand in 5th in the ABL with a 6-12 league record; however, the Oilers have found their stride and won 3 of 4 from the Bucs to close Kenai’s home stand. The Glacier Pilots stand at 8-10 and the Bucs are at .500 at 9-9.
Pitching continues to be a strength for the Oilers at the mid-season mark. Starter Luke Yacinich, in his last two outings, allowed only one hit in 13 innings. Reliever Alex Weigel has allowed one earned run in 14.1 innings for a .062 ERA. At the plate, the Oilers lead the ABL with eight home runs; seven different players have left the yard, with Garrett Pennington recording two home runs, one in each game of a doubleheader.
