Solid pitching and timely hitting was the combination for a second-straight victory over the Anchorage Bucs for the Peninsula Oilers on Sunday as the Oilers downed the Bucs 5-2 in Alaska Baseball League action.
Oilers 5 – Bucs 2
After allowing two Bucs runs in the 4th inning and falling behind 2-0; the Oilers scored three runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning.
In the fifth inning, the Oilers recorded three runs on four hits scoring Dylan Ditzenberger, John Hanley and Andrew Sojka for a 3-2 lead. The sixth inning featured two runs on three hits with Bryce Marsh collecting two RBI. For the game Marsh recorded three RBI and two hits.
The Oilers pitchers combined to allow two runs on 6 hits. Starting pitcher Mason Posey threw five innings allowing two runs on four hits for the win. Henry Bird pitched four innings in relief allowing only two hits and no runs while striking out four Bucs to record the save.
The Oilers lead the current series 2-1 against the Bucs with games on Monday and Tuesday remaining in the series.
