The Peninsula Oilers flipped the script on Sunday scoring five, first inning runs and defeating the Anchorage Bucs 8-5 in Alaska Baseball League action at Mulcahy Stadium.
The Oilers have struggled in the first inning throughout the early season; however on Sunday, Kenai took command of the game and recorded their third victory of the ABL season against the Bucs.
Oilers 8 – Bucs 5
The Oilers scored five runs in the first inning with only three hits. Willie Schwarick and Casey Burnham hammered doubles and Graiden West recorded a RBI single. Starting pitcher Carson Seeman pitched six innings and allowed only two earned runs on three hits.
For the game, Casey Burnham went 3 for 4 with two RBI; Shunsuke Sakaino added two hits and two walks to reach base four times.
The Oilers close their grueling 14-game road trip on Monday, June 20 at Mulcahy Park against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots.
