A pitcher’s duel through 6 1/2 scoreless inning turns to a 4-0 shut out victory for the Chugiak- Eagle River Chinooks over the Peninsula Oilers, as the Oilers closed-out their eight-game road swing through the Alaska Baseball League on Wednesday in Chugiak.
Scoreless into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Chinooks scored on a two-out, Oilers throwing error by shortstop John Olmstead and lead 1-0 into the eighth. Oilers Starting Pitcher Liam Rocha threw six innings and allowed no runs and struck out five. In the eighth inning, the Chinooks added three runs on one hit, three walks and three wild pitches.
The Oilers managed only four hits while Chugiak scored four runs on only five hits.
Upcoming Schedule
The Peninsula Oilers stand at 2-6 in the ABL and have two days off before opening a ten-game homestand on Saturday, June 19th.
The Oilers face the Mat-Su Miners for five games at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.
