Lack of run production continues to be an issue for the 2017 Peninsula Oilers baseball team; as the Oilers are shut out on Tuesday 4-0 by the Mat-Su Miners at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.
The Oilers produced only six runs in their last four games, including 32 innings of baseball. Puzzling, considering the Oilers have four players hitting over .300 and six players total hitting over .280 from the plate.
Miners 4 – Oilers 0
The Miners opened with a three-run home run in the first inning; then Oilers pitching held the Miners to a lone run for the remaining eight innings in Tuesday’s 4-0 victory by the Miners. Mat-Su improves to a league leading 7-1 in the ABL; the Oiler fall to 1-5 in the early season.
The Oilers open their first road trip on Thursday, June 15th traveling to Anchorage’s Mulcahy Park to face the Anchorage Bucs. Thursday’s game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The Oilers and Bucs will play a doubleheader on Friday, with the first game at 6:00 p.m.
