The Peninsula Oilers were well-represented in Sunday’s Alaska Baseball League All-Star game at Mulcahy Stadium with twelve all-star selections, including the game’s MVP award winner Skyler Messinger.
Messinger, a member of the American League squad who lost 3-2 to the National League, went 1-3 with an RBI double at the plate along with displaying defensive prowess at shortstop.

AL starter Oilers Bryan Woo tossed a scoreless first inning striking out a batter and walking one.
Two-way player Connor McCord allowed one earned run on the mound, recorded a 1 for 2 performance at the plate and played first base.
Reliever Heath Olive threw a scoreless seventh inning while recording two strikeouts and a walk.
Oilers catchers John Mackay and Jonathan Villa went a combined 1-4 at the plate (Mackay 1-2).
Infielder Bobby Goodloe went 1-1 at the plate with a walk in two appearances.
Outfielder Camden Vasquez went 1-4 with a stolen base and an outfield assist.
(Eric Reardon, Drew Thorpe, Steven Ordorica and Calvin Farris were reserves who did not participate in the all-star game).
Oilers return to ABL play on Monday
The Oilers (12-21) open up a three-game series against the ABL leading Anchorage Bucs (22-9) on Monday at 7 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium.
