Friday Doubleheader Recap (provided by Jonah White)
Pilots 3 – Oilers 2
In game 1, the Oilers fell behind 3-0 heading to the bottom of the 6th, when two hits and a walk sent Bryce Marsh to the plate with the bases loaded an no outs. Marsh belted a 3-1 pitch off the right field wall for a 2-run double, missing a grand slam by feet. One batter later, with the go-ahead runs on base, Grant Roosma grounded into a bizarre 4-2-5-3-9 double play which featured three separate rundowns. The Oilers left two more runners on base in the 7th, unable to complete the comeback as Anchorage held on 3-2 victory.
Oilers 7 – Pilots 5
In the nightcap, the Oilers pushed across seven runs in the first three innings, highlighted by a Henry Novicki triple and a Marsh double in the third. A three-run fourth and a homerun by Glacier Pilots’ catcher Grant Weiss in the sixth made it 7-5 before Luke Yacinich retired the final four hitters to finish the complete game; getting his team-high fifth win of the season. Final Score: Oilers 7 – Pilots 5
Johnny Olmstead had five hits combined for the two games as the Oilers record goes to 12-24 on the season, two games out of a playoff spot with four games to go.
