Oilers Split With Bucs: Two Games Friday To Close Series

With the race for the Alaska Baseball League playoffs still hanging in the balance; the Peninsula Oilers, battling for a playoff spot, and the Anchorage Bucs, battling for the top spot in the ABL, split a double header on Thursday at Coral Seymour Park.

Bucs 5 – Oilers 2

The Oilers opened an early 2-0 lead on the Anchorage Bucs in game one with a two-out, two-run, RBI double by Isaac Deveaux in the third inning; however, that proved to be the only runs in the game for the Oilers as the Bucs take game one 5-2. The Oilers manage only two hits, both in the third inning.

A pair of home runs off the bat of Caleb Hicks powered the Oilers to a 5-2 victory in game two of Thursday’s double header against the Anchorage Bucs. Hicks muscled a solo home run in the second inning to start a four-run inning as the Oilers took a 4-2 lead. Hicks again leaves the park in the sixth, a second home run and a 5-2 victory for the Oilers. Kyle Lucke pitched six inning allowing two runs and recording six strike outs for the win. Trent Paddon records the save.

The Oilers and Bucs close the home series on Friday night with a double header at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

Game one is scheduled for a 5:00 p.m. start.

The Oilers are on the road Sunday through Tuesday, four games at Mat-Su; then return home for the final home stand of the regular season scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, July 27-29.
