Oilers Surrender Walk-Off Victory To Pilots

A walk-off balk in the bottom of the ninth scored the winning run for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in a 5-4 victory over the Peninsula Oilers o Sunday at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage.

 

Pilots 5 – Oilers 4

The Pilots rallied from a 2-0 deficit early to defeat the Oilers in the Pilots final at-bat for an Alaska Baseball League 5-4 win over the Peninsula Oilers.

After battling to tie the game at 4-4 in the eighth inning, the Pilots lead-off man reached third on an error and scored on a balk called on Oilers relief pitcher Mose Hayes, plating the winning run.  The Oilers had two runners on in the top of the ninth; however, hit into an inning-ending double play.

The Oilers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and lead 4-3 after seven innings.  Oilers starter Connor Kershaw threw five innings and allowed three runs.  Reliever Mose Hayes pitched three innings and allowed only two hits and two runs and was tagged with the loss.

 

The Oilers stand at 1-2 in ABL action and faces the Mat-Su Miners on Monday in Palmer with the broadcast moving to KSRM 920AM and streaming at radiokenai.com.

The Sweeney’s Pregame Show begins at 6:40 p.m. with the first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
