Oilers Survive 12-Inning Pitchers’ Duel With Chinooks

Six Oilers pitchers combined to allow only two base hits in twelve innings Monday; as the Peninsula Oilers out-last the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks 1-0 in Alaska Baseball League play at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

The Oilers sweep three, straight games from the Chinooks, each requiring late inning rallies and shut-down pitching from the reliever corps.  The Oilers win game one of the series 2-1; game two 5-4; and game three 1-0.

Oilers 1 – Chinooks 0

The Oilers and Chinooks locked up in a 0-0 tie through 11 1/2 innings with each pitching staff allowing only two hits through the first nine innings.

The Oilers Bennett Oliver walks to lead off the bottom of the 12th inning; advances to second on a sacrifice bunt and scores with two outs on an RBI single, sliding home for the winning run.  Final Score: 1-0 Oilers.

Six Oilers pitchers combine for the staff victory with Jordan Kron pitching the twelve inning for the win.

 

The Oilers travel to Anchorage for a three game series at Mulcahy Park.  The Oilers face the Anchorage Bucs on Tuesday and Wednesday and the Anchorage Glacier Pilots on Thursday.  All games are scheduled 7:00 p.m. starts.
