The Peninsula Oilers take two on the road Monday with a sweep of the double header against the Alaska Goldpanners at Growden Park in Fairbanks.
Oilers 3 – Panner 2
The Oilers scored three runs on seven hits and held-off the Panners for a 3-2 victory in game one of Monday’s double header.
The Oilers scored a run in the first and the Panners answered with a run in the second inning. Two runs in the fourth for the Oilers and a single Panner run in the fourth proved all the scoring as the Oilers down the Panners 3-2. Both teams collected seven hits.
Oilers 9 – Panners 0
The Oilers offense ignited for 12 hits and nine runs and the ptiching staff combined for a shutout in game two; the Oilers downing Fairbanks 9-0.
The Oilers scored five runs on five hits in the third inning to post a 5-0 lead. Oilers hitters posted a single run in the fourth, a run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh inning. Starting pitcher Josh Medeles picked-up the win holding the Panners scoreless through five innings on just three hits. Travis Holden and Shane Ennis closed-out the shutout ABL victory.
The Oilers improve to 6-5 in the ABL and lead the American Division of the Alaska Baseball League.
The Oilers face the Panners on Tuesday night at Growden Park. Game time scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
