The final road trip of the Alaska Baseball League season for the Peninsula Oilers could not have started better with the Oilers recording a doubleheader sweep against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage on Wednesday night.
With the Peninsula Oilers eliminated from the Top of the World tournament, the Oilers downed the Glacier Pilots 3-1 in game one and 3-0 in game two and improved to 14-25 on the regular season.
The final game of the season for the Oilers is scheduled for Thursday, July 28th against the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks at 6:10 p.m. at Lee Jordan Field in Chugiak.
Oilers 3 – Pilots 1
After seven scoreless innings in a scheduled seven inning game, the Oilers hammered-out three runs in the top of the eighth and allowed a lone run in the bottom of the inning for a 3-1 Oilers victory.
The Oilers scored three runs on one hit; The Pilots managed a single run in the eighth. Oilers starting pitcher Mason Posey threw 4.1 scoreless innings and recorded four strikeouts; Jacob Dillon earned the save with three inning of relief.

Dylan Crowley opened with six scoreless innings on the mound for the Oilers and Henry Bird earned the save throwing a scoreless seventh inning for a 3-0 Oilers win in the second game of the doubleheader.
After five scoreless innings, Garrett Pennington blasted a two-run home run with a towering shot which scored Andrew Sojka. The Oilers added an insurance run with John Hanley scoring on a Henry Noviki RBI.
The Oilers improve to 14-25 with a single game remaining against the Chinooks on Thursday in Chugiak.
The Oilers have been eliminated from the Top of the World tournament, owning the fifth position in the ABL. With an Oiler win on Thursday and a loss for the Anchorage Bucs on Thursday to #1 ABL seed Mat-Su Miners, the Oilers and Bucs will each have 15-25 records and the Bucs will advance on the tie-breaker of most runs scored (head-to-head tie-breaker is even at 5-5). The Bucs will face the Miners and the Chinooks will host the Pilots in best 2 of 3 opening rounds. The winners will face in a best 2 of 3 for the Top of the World Championship.
The Oilers travel to the Chinooks on Thursday with a scheduled for 6:00 p.m. game.
