Only non-life threatening injuries were reported in a three vehicle accident attended to in Sterling by Alaska State Troopers on Monday.
At approximately 2:56 pm yesterday, Alaska State Troopers responded to an accident in sterling at mile 91.5 of the Sterling Highway, near Golden International and Lea’s Boutique.
According to the online Trooper report, investigation found that 20-year-old Shira Voight of Sterling was stopped and waiting to turn left in the southbound lane in a white Buick SUV when she was struck from behind by a southbound gold Subaru Forrester, driven by 18-year-old Jessica Hanna of Soldotna.
The initial accident pushed Voight’s vehicle into oncoming traffic, resulting in a second crash with a white 2013 GMC Van driven by 49-year-old Fedos Martushoff of Sterling.
Voight and Hanna suffered non-life threatening injuries and were treated at the hospital. Martushoff reported no injuries.
The two vehicles in the initial accident were damaged substantially but the third vehicle only received minor damage.
All of the individuals involved in the accident reported seatbelt use.
Hanna was issued a citation for Negligent Driving.
