Alaska State Troopers responded to an open-line 911 call at Mile 69 of the Seward Highway a little after 3:00 a.m. on Monday morning. On the phone line, an active disturbance was heard. The phone number belonged to December Shugak, age 43 of Kenai.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., Troopers made a traffic stop on a vehicle also belonging to Shugak.

The vehicle was being driven by Lloyd Zimin, age 43 of Kenai. Shugak was in the back seat. Investigation revealed that Shugak had assaulted Zimin during the 911 phone call. Shugak was arrested for Fourth Degree Assault.

A search of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network revealed that Zimin was in violation of conditions of release, for prior domestic violence and protective order charges. He was arrested for the violation. Both he and Shugak were remanded to Wildwood Pretrial and held without bail.
