Ostrander Farewells Kenai City Council

The City of Kenai bid farewell to its least-controversial City Council members last night; Student Representative Allie Ostrander will soon leave for a full-ride scholarship at Boise State University.

Ostrander: “I think I had something of an idea what the City Council would be like, but there were definitely things about it that I didn’t understand and it took a little while to get used to. I think I’m just starting to get the hang of it now and it’s the last meeting.”

Ostrander made national headlines for her athletic abilities last year, a fact noted by many Councilors in their closing comments. We asked Ostrander if she’ll stay in touch with local politics…

Ostrander: “Probably somewhat, especially since my dad is very involved, being the Chief of Staff at the Borough. I probably will never be as up-to-date as I am right now.”

The conversations Ostrander will remember best include the debate over a tree to be removed from the Kenai Airport, the theme for Municipal Park, and the gazebo being installed in the Lawton flower field.
