Allie Ostrander continues to garner post-season awards from the Mountain West Conference.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – David Elliott was named the Mountain West Indoor Men’s Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year and Allie Ostrander was named the Mountain West Indoor Women’s Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Monday. The two Broncos are Boise State’s first recipients of the conference indoor athlete of the year award since joining the Mountain West in 2012.
Elliott and Ostrander receiving the honor in the same year also marks the first time since 2011 that the same institution was represented by both the male and female honorees.
Allie Ostrander’s sensational indoor season also began with two record-breaking performances in Seattle. The freshman began by shattering both the school and MW 5,000m records at the UW Invitational after running a 15:21.85. The time also qualified her for the U.S. Olympic Trials later this year in July and is the third-fastest 5k on an oversized track in collegiate history.
The Kenai, Alaska native followed that up with an 8:54.27 in the 3,000m at the Husky Classic, giving her the school and MW records in the process for the second-straight week. The time is also the third-fastest 3k time on an oversized track in collegiate history.
Ostrander than moved on to the MW Indoor Track and Field Championships and ran the 1,600m leg on the distance medley relay team, helping the Broncos to a first-place finish with a school record time of 11:16.41. She competed in the 5,000m at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, but was unable to finish the race.
The Broncos will begin their outdoor season on April 1-2 at the Stanford Invitational.
