Allie Ostrander, the reigning national champion in the 3000M Steeplechase for NCAA Outdoor Track and Field, posted the fastest time in Thursday’s steeplechase preliminaries at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
Ostrander, a sophomore competing for Boise State University, ran away from the field and posted a 9:45.96 to qualify for the 3000M Steeplechase final on Saturday. Ostrander’s time sets a new NCAA record for a qualifying time in the event.
Ostrander will race in the 3000M Steeplechase final on Saturday, with the race time scheduled for 3:54 p.m. PT. She will compete in the 5,000M final at 5:25 p.m. See our earlier story about the historic distance double for Allie Ostrander.
