Allie Ostrander finished second overall in a field of the nation’s top Division 1 cross country runners at the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Running Championships held in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday.
Down the final stretch the battle was between Notre Dame senior Molly Seidel and Boise State freshman Allie Ostrander. Seidel broke the tape in the lead completing the 6-kilometer course in 19:28.6; Ostrander recorded a 19;33.8 for the national women’s championship runner-up.
The two runner’s finished one-two at the Wisconsin meet earlier this season, with Ostrander topping Seidel at the finish.
Allie Ostrander was one of four freshman to finish in the top ten. The New Mexico women raced to the team title placing four runners in the top 15. Ostrander’s Boise State team finished 11th in the team scoring.
Allie Ostrander closes the fall running season as the NCAA womens’ national runner-up, NCAA All-American, West Region Champion, 1st team All-West Region, Mountain West Conference Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year.
