Allie Ostrander opens her defense of the Women’s 3000M Steeplechase and races for the record book at the 2019 NCAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Austin, Texas with the preliminary 3000M steeplechase race set for Thursday, June 6th.
Allie enters the national championships having qualified for both the 3000M steeplechase, Allie is the two-time reigning champion, and qualifying for the finals in the 5000M run, an event that Allie finished eighth in in 2018.
Allie Ostrander’s Race Schedule
Allie competes in the preliminary qualifier for the 3000M steeplechase at 4:32 Alaska Time on Thursday on the track at Mike A. Myers Stadium and Soccer Field in Austin, Texas. With a qualifying time, Allie will advance to Saturday’s 3000M steeplechase final scheduled for 2:54 p.m.
Allie has posted a qualifying time in the 5000M run and will run in the finals on Saturday at 4:25 p.m. Alaska Time.
Allie, if she qualifies for both finals, could have only an hour and a half between national championship events.
In a release from Boise State University….
“In an already illustrious career, Allie Ostrander will have the opportunity to etch her name deeper into the record books this weekend. If the redshirt junior were to win a national title in the either the steeplechase or the 5,000-meter, she would become the first athlete in Boise State history to win three NCAA national titles — surpassing Gabe Wallin’s back-to-back national titles in the javelin (2005-06).
Were Ostrander to win the steeplechase, she would become the first woman to win three-consecutive national titles in the event, and the first woman to win three national titles in the event since Colorado’s Jenny Barringer (2006, 2008-200). She would also become only the 15th athlete on the women’s side to win three-straight national titles in an event in NCAA history.”

Allie Ostrander Repeats National Championship In 3000M Steeplechase
In a field of the top collegiate female steeplechase runners, Allie Ostrander runs-away from the pack to record a second-straight NCAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship in the 3000M Steeplechase at the 2018 national championships in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday.
Ostrander, running for Boise State University, ran a time of 9:39.28 in the championship heat of the steeplechase, just-off her personal best which was run on Thursday in the NCAA preliminaries. Ostrander and Syracuse’s Paige Stoner ran side-by-side through most of the race; until Allie Ostrander pulled away and dominated the final lap; winning by more than six seconds over Charlotte Prouse of New Mexico.
Ostrander ran the final straight nearly alone in a final which included six of the top nine runners posting personal best times.
Ostrander is the first women’s steeplechase champion to repeat since 2008.
Ostrander returns to the track for the 5000M final scheduled for 4:25 p.m. AST on Saturday.
(Editorial note: Allie Ostrander finished 8th in the 5000M final at the 2018 NCAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship.)
