The most prolific, teenage distance and endurance runner in Alaska racing history Allie Ostrander will test her mettle with the best, women’s extreme and distance competitors in the 100th Anniversary Mt. Marathon event in Seward, Alaska on Saturday, July 4th.
Allie’s Mt. Marathon History
Allie Ostrander, having conquered the mountain for five, straight junior girls titles, including posting the fastest overall junior division time in 2014, moves into the senior women’s division for 2015. Allie holds the junior course record set in 2014 at 28:54.
Now at age 18, Allie will compete in the women’s division for the first time in an international field scheduled to feature past Mt. Marathon champions, past U.S. Olympians, collegiate caliber distance runners and Alaska’s best female endurance runners.
Holly Brooks, U.S. Olympic Nordic Skier and three-time men’s reigning champion Eric Strabel are entered to defend 2014 titles.
The women’s division began in 1985 with 54 women finishing the first-ever women’s only event. The junior division race began with age-group records in 1994.
Allie’s Race Credentials
Allie’s credentials are impressive for five, past Mt. Marathon races and intimidating considering her overall racing resume’.
Allie’s accomplishments and accolades include three high school state cross country running individual state championships; multiple high school track and field state championships and state record holder in 1600M and 3200M; 2014 and 2015 Gatorade Alaska Track Athlete of the Year; and Allie’s trophy collection also includes a sweep of the Gatorade awards in cross country running winning the Gatorade Alaska Cross Country Athlete of the Year award four times from her freshman through senior seasons.
Allie also won a national title with a victory at the 2014 Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon in December of 2014.
2015 Mt Marathon Event Details
Saturday’s 2015 Mt. Marathon Race will push athletes to their physical limits and for Allie Ostrander push her to the top of the mountain, literally, against the race’s best.
