Homer Electric Association, Inc. (HEA) crews responded to a power outage affecting 303 members in the East Poppy Lane area of Soldotna on January 9, 2021. The outage started at 6:59 PM and by 8:54 PM power was restored to all members.

Bruce Shelley, Director of Member Relations for Homer Electric Association, spoke to KSRM, “Last Saturday night, on January 9th in East Poppy Lane area of Soldotna, we had a power outage that affected approximately 303 members. that outage was caused by a tree falling on the line. I’m not sure whether or not there were any limbs in the area or just a tree finally decided it was gonna fall down, but it did fall down and it took the lights out about 6:59 PM and took us to about 8:54 PM where we had everybody back in power. If you were maybe watching a football game, the lights went out.”

Remember to stay away from downed power lines, which may still be energized, and call HEA at 888-868-8243 or 911 to report it immediately.
