Overturned Semi-Truck Slowed Sterling Highway Overnight

Alaska State Troopers received a report of an overturned semi-truck, pulling a trailer, near mile 37.5 of the Sterling Highway at approximately 10:27 p.m. on Tuesday night.  The incident temporarily halted traffic on the highway in the overnight hours.

 

According to trooper dispatch, investigation revealed the driver, identified as Howard Dyer (51, Anchorage), was attempting to negotiate a right curve in the roadway when his trailer began to overturn, causing the truck to overturn as well. Howard suffered a small scratch to his forehead, but declined EMS service.

 

Vulcan Towing responded to take possession of the truck and trailer. Howard was reported to be wearing his seat belt during the incident.

 

While the roadways are reported to be clear, it is advised for Alaskans to utilize the 5-1-1 service either via telephone or online for the latest in traffic updates, particularly on the Sterling Highway.
