Peninsula Community Health Services of Alaska in Soldotna is holding an enrollment event today to assist residents apply for healthcare.
Tina Wegener is a local navigator for healthcare.gov and said although the website for the Affordable Care Act is better than last year, they are still available to help.
Wegener: “I have found that it is much more user friendly this year than it was last year, we have had a couple glitches, nothing really really horrible but I think that it is much better than it was last year.”
There will also be professionals on hand to assist with those who would like to file for an American Indian or an Alaskan Indian exemption.
Wegener: “Kelly and I are what are called navigators or certified application counselors, we just help you get through the whole marketplace and have a better understanding of how the program works, get you to the point where you can look at the insurance packet, kind of explain what it means and then you make the final decision.”
That event is from 11 am – 7 pm today, at the PCHS Center in Soldotna.
