Lydia Jacoby, Seward High School Class of 2022, races to a national championship and a pair of Kenai Central graduates post outstanding performances in colleigate and profession competitions, all are spotlighted on the alumni report.
Lydia Jacoby
Lydia Jacoby, a freshman at the University of Texas, now owns a NCAA national championship in swimming to go with her Olympic gold medal.
Jacoby raced to the 100-yard Breaststroke championship at the 2023 NCAA Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships posting the seventh fastest time in NCAA history for the event. In typical form , Jacoby was third at the turn and powered through the second fifty for a time of 57.03.
Jacoby helped the University of Texas to the runner-up position in the NCAA team scoring.
Tyler Hippchen
From the Tsalteshi Trails to the NCAA National Championships, Tyler Hippchen continues to excel in nordic skiing, posting three top-20 finishes at the USCSA (U.S. College Ski and Snowboard Association) National Championships in Mammoth, California in early March.
Hippchen, a 2022 graduate of Kenai Central High School and past member of the KCHS Nordic ski team, competed for Western Colorado University in the men’s 1.5K sprint, placing 6th overall; the 15K skate race, finishing 15th; and the 7.5 classic race, finishing 18th overall. WCU won the overall team USCSA National Championship. Tyler Hippchen also earn Academic All-American recognition.
Allie Ostrander
In her first competition of 2023, Allie Ostrander, running under Nnormal, finished sixth at the 15-kilometer Gate River Run in 52 minutes, 37 seconds in Jacksonville, Florida. The Gate River Run is considered the USA Track and Field 15K Championships.
The 2015 graduate of Kenai Central, finished sixth at the 15-kilometer Gate River Run on Saturday in Jacksonville, Florida. The Gate River Run doubles as the USA Track and Field 15K Championships.
