Peninsula Conference Championship Games Feature Ninilchik Girls & Nikolaevsk Boys, Tonight

The Ninilchik girls and the Nikolaevsk boys basketball teams advance to the 2018 Peninsula Conference Basketball Tournament’s championship games scheduled for Friday, March 2nd at Lumen Christi School in Anchorage.

The girls championship game is set for 6:30, with the boys championship game scheduled for 8:00 p.m.

Peninsula Conference Tournament Thursday Game Results: Girls Bracket

Ninilchik Girls 31 – CIA Girls 15

The Wolverine girls, #1 seed into the tournament, handled the Cook Inlet Academy girls 31-15 in the winner’s-bracket, semi-final game on Thursday to advance the Wolverines to the conference championship game on Friday.  DeeAnn White lead the Wolverines with 19 points.

The Wolverines will face host Lumen Christi in the 6:30 p.m. title game.  The loser will move to the second place game an Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Nikolaevsk Girls 48 – Birchwood 21

The Nikolaevsk girls advance to the double-back game on Friday at 4:30 on the strength of a 48-21 victory over Birchwood.  Nikolaevsk will play CIA girls in the Friday pairing with the winner advancing to the second place game on Saturday.

 

Peninsula Conference Tournament Thursday Game Results: Boys Bracket

Nikolaevsk Boys 45 – Lumen Christi 43

A three-point basket in the final ten seconds sealed the victory for the Warriors, as the Nikolaevsk boys win 45-43 over the host Lumen Christi to advance to the Peninsula Conference championship game on Friday.  JD Mumey hit the three-point basket to give the Warrior boys a one-point lead in the final seconds.

Nikolaevsk advances to play Birchwood Academy in the championship game scheduled for 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Lumen Christi.  The loser will move to the second place game an Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

Birchwood Academy 66 -Ninilchik 25

Birchwood Academy advances to the Peninsula Conference championship game to face Nikolaevsk on the strength of a 66-25 victory over reigning champion Ninilchik.  The Wolverines continue play in the double-back round with a 1:30 p.m. game on Friday; three wins and the Wolverine boys will qualify to the 1A state tournament.

Wasilla Lake Boys 70 – CIA Boys 38

Wasilla Lake advances into the double-back rounds and the CIA boys are eliminated with the 70-38 loss.
