The Kenai Kardinals and Soldotna Stars played the final game of the 2014 Peninsula Ice Challenge on Saturday at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex. The Eagle River Wolves defeated Homer 4-2 to win the trophy going 3-0 in the Ice Challenge.
SoHi 6 – Kenai 1
The SoHi Stars rallied from a 1-0 deficit after one period with three goals in the second and three in the third period for a 6-1 victory over Kenai. Kenai’s Dalton Dosko scored the game’s first goal just 1:06 into the game. The SoHi defense held Kenai scoreless for the remainder of the game.
SoHi’s Ty Fenton and Coel Nelson each scored two goals and Ethan brown and Corey Hanson added single goals. SohI finishes 2-1 in the tournament; Kenai goes winless in three games.

Thursday, November 6
SoHi 4 – Homer 3
After a scoreless first period, SoHI scored three second period goals and took a 3-1 lead into the final period. Homer added two early period goals to tie the game at 3-3. The Stars scored the game-winner off the stick of Jace Urban. For the game, Urban recorded two goals; Ethan Brown and Cameron Knowlton added single goals.
Kenai 0 – Eagle River 6
Kenai was held scoreless in the season opener for the Kardinals. Goalie Nate O’Lena recorded 49 saves for the contest.
Friday, November 7
SoHi 2 – Eagle River 7
SoHi’ s Ty Fenton scored both Star goals in a 7-2 loss to Eagle River.
Kenai 1 -v Homer 2 OT
Cody Arbolovski scored the lone Kardinal goal, as Kenai fell in overtime to Homer.
