Peninsula Oilers Begin Alaska Baseball League Season Against Anchorage Bucs

The Alaska Baseball League started last night, now, the Peninsula Oilers open their 2019 ABL campaign against the Anchorage Bucs tonight at 7 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium.

Thursday’s game is the first of a five-game series on the road before the Oilers return to Coral Seymour Memorial Park for their home opener on Wednesday, June 12th.

“The gauntlet begins tonight. The Peninsula Oilers begin their 2019 Alaska Baseball League season against the Anchorage Bucs, join us for the Sweeney’s Pregame Show beginning at 6:40 on ESPN 1140 AM and www.radiokenai.com, first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. The first of five games to open up the year for the Oilers on the road. The last time the Oilers took the diamond, it was at Mulcahy Stadium, a 15-2 loss at the hands of the Anchorage Bucs. Anchorage would move onto the Alaska Baseball League championship before being swept by the Mat-Su Miners who have now won three consecutive Alaska Baseball League titles entering play. But the hangover was was strong last night on opening night of the ABL, a 10-2 loss to the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks to open things up in the 2019 summer. The Oilers starting on the road, but that doesn’t limit the excitement for the first homestand of the summer on June 12.
