Peninsula Oilers Drop Doubleheader To Anchorage Bucs

The Peninsula Oilers dropped a Saturday doubleheader to the Anchorage Bucs, falling in game one 7-2, and in game two, 13-2 at Mulcahy Stadium. The losses drop the Oilers to 13-11, the Bucs improve to 11-11.

Game One: Bucs 7- Oilers 2

The Bucs jumped on Oilers starter Tevin Murray in the bottom of the third inning, scoring the first two runs of the game, powered by a Jake Vieth two-run, home run putting the Bucs on top 2-0.

The Bucs scored five more runs in the bottom of the fourth, on four hits, chasing Murray after 3.1 innings.

Oilers reliever Tre Brown tossed 2.2 innings in relief of Murray.

The Oilers scored their two runs in the top of the fifth inning, an RBI single by Ryan Koch plated Paul Kunst, Ryan Novis scored on a throwing error, allowing to advance home.

The Bucs closed with two scoreless innings to secure the 7-2 win.

 

Game Two: Bucs 13-2

The Bucs opened up the scoring in the second game of the twin-bill  in the bottom of the first; Oilers starter Noah Owen walked in the first run of the game with the bases loaded.

After two scoreless innings, the Bucs added nine runs in the bottom of the fourth, chasing Owen and Oilers reliever Andrew Lopez after only combining to record two outs. Oilers reliever Erikson Fish tossed the remaining 2.1 innings in relief in game two.

The Bucs added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, on a two-run home run by Vieth, his second on the day, which put the Bucs out in front 12-0.

The Oilers scored on a Ryan Novis two-run home run, his first of the season, cut the Bucs lead to 12-2.

The Bucs scored one more run in the bottom of the sixth and tossed a scoreless seventh inning to clinch the 13-2 victory.

 

Oilers Road Trip Concludes Sunday Against Bucs

The Oilers finish their seven-game road trip against the Bucs at 2 p.m at Mulcahy Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The season series between the Oilers and Bucs is tied 4-4.

The Oilers return to Coral Seymour Memorial Park on July 4th against the Mat-Su Miners, the first of a five-game series.
