Peninsula Oilers Drop Second Consecutive Game Against Mat-Su Miners 5-1

The Mat-Su Miners topped the Peninsula Oilers 5-1 on Friday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park, handing the Oilers their second consecutive loss. The Miners lead the season series 4-3 through seven games. The win increased the Miners lead over the Oilers for the top spot in the Alaska Baseball League to three games.

The Miners plated four runs through five innings. Including runs scored in the second and third inning, and two runs in the fifth, chasing Oilers starter Ryan Silva.

Oilers reliever Matt Amrhein followed Silva, tossing 1.2 innings in relief and allowing a run.

The Oilers scored their only run of the game on a Grant Wood RBI ground out in the bottom of the fifth inning, cutting the Miners lead to 4-1.

The Miners scored their final run in the top of the sixth inning.

Miners starter Ian Churchill recorded his third win of the season, improving his record to 3-0.

 

Oilers Conclude Homestand Against Miners On Sunday

The Oilers and Miners wrap-up the final two games of their five-game series over the weekend, with a pair of free games.

Main Street Tap and Grill night is 7 p.m. on Saturday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

Central Peninsula Family Day and Prostate Cancer Awareness Day is 2 p.m. Sunday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park. Free hot dogs and coca-cola are included with free admission.

Fans also have the opportunity to purchase white, red and blue game-worn Oilers jerseys on Sunday. Jerseys are $150 each, with the proceeds to benefit the Central Peninsula Health Foundation Prostate Cancer Fund.
