Peninsula Oilers Drop Series Opener Against Anchorage Glacier Pilots on Thursday

The Peninsula Oilers 11-game homestand opened to a sour note on Thursday with a 15-6 loss against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.  The Oilers surrendered a season-high 14 hits in the first of a five-game series against the Pilots.

The Oilers scored four of their six runs in the second inning and two in the eighth.

The Pilots ended the game on a 14-2 run through the final seven innings.

The Oilers’ Camden Vasquez finished 3-5 at the plate with an RBI in the loss and catcher John Mackay drove in two runs on a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth.

 

Oilers continue series against Pilots on Friday

Game two of a five-game series against the Pilots begins at 7 p.m. at Coral Seymour Memorial Park on First National Bank of Alaska night, the first of two free admission games in the series. Remaining series schedule is posted below.
