Peninsula Oilers Fall to Anchorage Bucs 8-2 In Alaska League Action: Game Three of Series On Saturday

The Peninsula Oilers dropped an 8-2 contest against the Anchorage Bucs Friday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park. Pitching woes and defensive errors contributed to the Oilers first loss of the season.

The Oilers allowed three earned runs, and committed four fielding errors in the loss. The Oilers only offensive output came in the bottom of the 6th inning, resulting in two runs  and cutting the Bucs lead in half.

Ryan Koch opened up the scoring for the Oilers with an RBI double in the bottom of the 6th inning. Koch scored on a 5-4-3 double play to make the score 4-2 in favor of the Bucs.

Oilers bats recorded six hits; however, the lineup stranded eight men, which included leaving the bases loaded twice.

With the loss the Oilers drop to 1-1 on the season and the Bucs earned their first win of the season, improving to 1-1.

 

Oilers baseball continues throughout the weekend

The Oilers take on the Bucs Saturday at 7 p.m. in game three of the six-game series. Saturday’s game is sponsored by the Kenai River Brown Bears, a free day at the ballpark.

Old Town Bingo will sponsor Sunday’s twin-bill on a free day of baseball at Coral Seymour Memorial Park. Fans can play baseball bingo while attending. Game one of Sunday’s double-header begins at 2 p.m.
