Peninsula Oilers Open Six-Game Series Against Mat-Su Miners Tonight

The three-time reigning Alaska Baseball League champions are in the house. The Peninsula Oilers host the Mat-Su Miners in game one of a six-game series at Coral Seymour Memorial tonight at 7 p.m., the only visit to Kenai for the Miners this summer.

 

Miners vs Oilers season series:

The Oilers went 0-4 against the Miners in the first series of the season at Hermon Brothers Field. The Miners (15-8), can win the season series against the Oilers (8-16) with two wins in the upcoming series at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

Oilers utility man Connor McCord is slated to start game one against the Miners tonight. McCord threw 4.2 IP against Mat-Su in his lone start against the Miners on June 19. The left-hander struck out a season-high eight batters and walked one. The Miners scored four unearned runs against McCord, which handed him his first loss of the season.

The Miners have scored first in each game in the series.

The Oilers lead the Alaska Baseball League in team batting average: .265.

The Mat-Su pitching staff has struck out the most batters (185) and has surrendered the fewest hits (144) in the ABL this season.
