The Peninsula Oilers, behind a season-high 10 runs, defeated the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 10-6 at Mulcahy Stadium Monday night. The Oilers increase their Alaska Baseball League leading record to 9-4, the loss drops the Pilots, 4-7, in the ABL standings.

Trailing 1-0 after allowing a first inning home run to the Pilots, the Peninsula Oilers answered in the second; Grant Wood scoring on an RBI single by John Mackay (his first hit and RBI on the ABL season) tying the game 1-1.
The Oilers pounced on Pilots starter Zachariah Jarrard in the top of the third, bringing in four runs on four hits, including RBI singles by Paul Kunst, Grant Wood and Michael Yourg, propelling the Oilers to a 5-1 lead.
After the Pilots tacked on a run in the bottom of the sixth, the Oilers unloaded against two Pilots relievers in the top of the seventh inning.
Three straight walks issued to Tyler Duke, Bryce Begell and Kunst loaded the bases and chased the first Pilots reliever.
Ryan Novis produced a run on a sacrific fly.
Then, the big bomb!
Ryan Koch unloaded a grand slam, clearing the bases and vaulting the score to 10-2. The round-tripper was Kochs third home run of the season.
The Pilots added two runs in the eighth and two in the ninth; the Oilers held on to secure their ninth win of the season, final score 10-6.
