Oilers report: “Voice of the Oilers” Casey Roehl…
“It’s the final tune up for the Peninsula Oilers before the start of the 2019 Alaska Baseball League season. The ABL begins tonight out in Palmer, the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks and the Mat-Su Miners, doing battle to open up the season officially. The Oilers hit the road tomorrow night tomorrow night, to take on the Anchorage Bucs, a 7 pm first pitch at Mulcahay Stadium. Someone happy to get back into the swing of things, Oilers assistant coach Rolando Sanchez, (who is) returning for his second year on the Kenai.
‘Having another spring season under my belt, and coming back a second time with a new batch of guys, coming in with a little bit better confidence than I did last year, and kinda taking the bull by the horns. I think these guys feed off of it, they like it, they want to learn from someone feeling confident themselves too so, I think that’s what I’ve taken away.’
Sanchez, an assistant coach at Benedictine Mesa, (is) one of the most colorful personalities, player or coach in the entire league.
