The Peninsula Oilers dropped an Alaska Baseball League contest against the Mat-Su Miners 11-3 at Coral Seymour Memorial Park on Thursday. The Miners extend their ABL leading record to 17-10, the Oilers dropped to 15-12, two games back of the Miners for the top record in the league.

The Miners bats struck gold early in the top of the first inning, four runs scored against Oilers starter Bryan Woo put Mat-Su up 4-0 after the first. Woo did not record an out in the inning and was lifted for Tre Brown, who tossed four innings and allowed one run on four hits.
The Miners extended their lead to 5-0 with a single run in the second.
The Oilers cut the Miners lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the second when Zack Zalesky scored on a Brian Leonhardt 6-4-3 double play.
The Miners added a run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
The Oilers tacked on their second run of the night on a Chad Bible 3-1 RBI groundout in the bottom of the sixth inning, which brought the score to 7-2 Miners.
The Oilers scored their third run in the bottom of the eighth, when Ryan Koch scored on a 5-3 RBI groundout by Bible, bringing the score to an 8-3 Miners lead.
The Miners scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning against Oilers relievers Tyler Duke and Grant Wood. Miners starter Jonathan Guardado threw six innings, allowing two runs on five hits, en route to his second win of the season.
Oilers Homestand Continues Through Sunday
The Oilers and Miners duel on Friday in the third game of their five-game series.
Friday is Kendall Ford Night at the Ballpark with Kendall Ford teaming with the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. Oilers fans will receive admission with the contribution of a jar of peanut butter.
Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

The Oilers and Miners close out the series on Sunday with Central Peninsula Hospital Family Day & Prostate Cancer Awareness Day at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.
