Peninsula Oilers Shutout In Loss To Anchorage Bucs

The Peninsula Oilers drop the season series finale against the Anchorage Bucs 3-0 at Mulcahy Stadium on Thursday. The loss for the Oilers (19-18) places them a game ahead of the Bucs (18-17) in the win column and a game behind in the loss column, virtually tied for second Alaska Baseball League standings with a .514 win percentage.

Starting pitching dominated for both sides throughout the first four innings. Oilers starter Christian Winston and Bucs starter Daniel Rivero allowed a combined six hits on nine strikeouts through four innings.

The Bucs broke the stalemate in the bottom of the fifth inning with four consecutive hits producing three runs, all with two outs gave the Bucs a 3-0 lead.

Winston tossed six innings in his fifth outing against the Bucs.

Matt Amrhein and Erikson Fish each threw a scoreless inning in relief of Winston.

The win for the Bucs clinch the season series against the Oilers six games to five. If both teams share the same record at the end of the season, the Bucs hold the tie-breaker for seeding with the Top of The World Series approaching in August.

 

The Oilers Conclude Road Trip On Friday

The Oilers conclude their road schedule against the Mat-Su Miners at Hermon Brothers Field on Friday at 6 p.m.

The Oilers return to Coral Seymour Memorial Park on July 24th against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots for the final home series of the regular season.
