Peninsula Soccer Showdowns Go To Kenai & SoHi

Northern Lights Conference soccer fills the week with Peninsula teams facing-off in Southern Division showdowns.  On Tuesday, Nikiski faced Kenai and SoHi traveled to Homer to battle the Mariners.

SoHi Girls 3 – Homer 0

After a 1-0 first half in favor of the Soldotna girls, SoHi added two second half goals for a 3-0 shutout of the Homer Mariners.

SoHi Boys 2 – Homer 1

The SoHi boys improved to 5-3 on the season with a 2-1 victory over Homer.  Homer held an early 1-0 lead, before SoHi scored to tie the game in the first half.  The Stars netted the game-winner in the second half.

Kenai Boys 5 – Nikiski 1

The Kardinal boys remained unbeaten in Northern Lights Conference play with a 5-1 victory over the Nikiski Bulldogs.  Kenai’s Zack Tuttle recorded a four-goal hat trick; Rykker Riddall added a goal for Kenai.  Luck Broussard scored Nikiski’s lone goal.

Kenai Girls 7 – Nikiski 0

The Kardinal girls recorded another shutout with a 7-0 victory over Nikiski.

After nearly 20 minutes of scoreless back-and-forth play, Kenai opened the scoring on a Jacey Ross goal which opened the floodgates for the Kardinal girls.  Cassie Holmes recorded a pair of goals and Cori Holmes, Samantha Morse, Sarah Every and Savaya Biever.  Alli Steinbeck recorded her second, straight shutout in goal for the Kenai girls.
