The 2021 ASAA State Soccer Championships, featuring competition in Division I and Division II, opened three days of tournament play on Thursday, May 27th with first-round contests held at three different venues. Play continues through Championship Saturday with Division II championship games at Service High School.
Division II State Soccer Championships: First Round Results
All four Kenai Peninsula state qualifiers recorded victories in the ASAA Division II State Soccer Championships first round.
Girls Division II
Homer Girls 3 – North Pole 1
The Peninsula Conference #2 seed Homer Mariners defeated Mid-Alaska Conference North Pole 3-1.
SoHi Girls 9 – Monroe 0
The SoHi Stars girls, #1 seed from the Peninsula Conference overpowered the Mid-Alaska Conference Monroe Rams 9-0 in first round action to advance to the semi-finals on Friday. Rhys Cannava recorded a four-goal, hat trick and Sierra Kuntz scored a pair of goals for the SoHi girls.
Boys Division II
SoHi Boys 4 – Palmer 0
The SoHi Boys, champions of the Peninsula Conference, shut out Northern Lights Conference Palmer 4-0 in the boys opening round. Josh Heiber scored a pair of goals and Maleda Dembrock and Trenton O’Reagan scored single goals.
Kenai Boys 3 – Grace 1
The #2 seed from the Peninsula Conference Kenai Kardinals downed Grace Christian 3-1 to advance to the semi-finals on Friday. Leif Lofquist scored in the overtime period recording two goals and an assist in the Kenai victory.

Division I State Soccer Championships
Large school soccer programs open play at the ASAA Division I State Soccer Championships. Thursday’s tournament games will be spread across three venues in Anchorage, with Service High, West Anchorage High and Eagle River High hosting games.
