Each week throughout the high school sports 2023-24 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.
For the week of April 9th:
- For the Kenai Kardinals is E-sports gamer Eliseso Castro
- Castro is a member of Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart KCHS Team.
- For the Nikiski Bulldogs is track and field athlete Truit McCaughey
- McCaughey placed 2nd in Shotput at Big Cs and broke the school record at 49’4”.
- For the Soldotna Stars is track and field athlete Tyce Escott
- Escott ran a personal best in the 100m at the Big C Relays, placing 5th overall against almost every team in the state. Tyce also played an important role in three of our medley relays.
Congratulations to all Peninsula Sports Athletes of the Week; each recipient will receive a 6-inch combo meal courtesy of Subway of the Kenai Peninsula.
