Each week throughout the high school sports 2024-25 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.
For the week of December 17th:
- Kenai Kardinals Athlete of the Week is e-sports player Raymond Wilkie.
- Raymond is the Captain of the KCHS E-Sports Team which wrapped their Fall season last week.
- Nikiski Bulldogs Athlete of the Week is wrestler Ellie Isabell.
- Ellie has led the girls’ wrestling team all season long and she became a Region champion this weekend. She dominated two state placers and is incredibly hungry to repeat and find herself on the podium this weekend at state!
- Soldotna Stars Athlete of the Week is wrestler Ryan Buchanon.
- Ryan won a Region 3 Champion on Saturday and has been a consistent example of excellence for the Stars Wrestling team the entire season.
Congratulations to all Peninsula Sports Athletes of the Week; each recipient will receive a 6-inch combo meal courtesy of Subway of the Kenai Peninsula.
