Each week throughout the high school sports 2023-24 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.
For the week ending December 20th:
- Representing the Kenai Kardinals awarded no athlete this week.
- Leading the pack for the Nikiski Bulldogs is wrestler Frank St Denis
- St Denis wrestled some excellent matches at State placing 4th.
- Selected for the Soldotna Stars is wrestler Jacob Strausbaugh
- Strausbaugh capped off his Junior season claiming his second state title in dominating fashion. Jacob ended the season with 37 wins and only one loss.
Congratulations to all Peninsula Sports Athletes of the Week, each recipient will receive a 6-inch combo meal courtesy of Subway of the Kenai Peninsula.
