Each week throughout the high school sports 2024-25 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.
For the week of February 24th:
- Kenai Kardinals Athlete of the Week is Nordic Skier Ruby Davis.
- With a time of 23:25, Ruby took 1st place in the 7.5 freestyle at the Division 2 State Nordic Ski Championships in Fairbanks.
- Nikiski Bulldogs Athlete of the Week is basketball player Madison Iyatunguk.
- Over the past three weeks, Madi has emerged as the Lady Bulldogs’ second-leading scorer, averaging 9 points per game in conference play.
- Soldotna Stars Athlete of the Week is basketball player Izaiah Gilbert.
- Izaiah scored 22 points and had a great game against the Grace Christian Grizzlies last Friday night.
Congratulations to all Peninsula Sports Athletes of the Week; each recipient will receive a 6-inch combo meal courtesy of Subway of the Kenai Peninsula.
