Each week throughout the high school sports 2023-24 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.
For the week ending January 2nd:
- Representing the Kenai Kardinals is wrestler Daniel Steffensen
- Steffensen was crowned Wrestling State Champion at 140 pounds.
- Leading the pack for the Nikiski Bulldogs is basketball player Avery Ellis
- Ellis assisted the Bulldogs in the most recent games.
- Selected for the Soldotna Stars is wrestler Hope Hillyer
- Hillyer has had a good start to the season for our Girls Varsity team.
Congratulations to all Peninsula Sports Athletes of the Week, each recipient will receive a 6-inch combo meal courtesy of Subway of the Kenai Peninsula.
