Each week throughout the high school sports 2023-24 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools.
For the week ending January 9th:
- Representing the Kenai Kardinals is hockey player Logan Mese
- Mese had a 3 Goal Hat Trick in 5-3 win vs Soldotna on Friday January 6th.
- Leading the pack for the Nikiski Bulldogs is basketball player Mylan Johnson
- From Coach Kornstad, “As a Basketball team we have been learning what it means to give your very best effort and Mylan has been a key leader for our team in this area. We have been proud of his effort throughout the week and he has shown amazing growth as a result.”
- Selected for the Soldotna Stars is Nordic Skier Tania Boonstra
